Spot

We found Spot at the Humane Society after the last 101 Dalmatians movie.  We always feel the responsibility to tell folks that because Dals are highly romanticized celebrity dogs.  Their spots and movie status make them kid magnets, but they are not always the best pets for children due to their highly energetic, intelligent, and sensitive natures.  Dalmatians do best when they are well trained in high structure environments - not something every family can provide.

Spot knows over twenty commands and loves to play, but he loves the bed more.  When he comes over to your house, he'll often search out the softest bed available and take a nap.  He's not aggressive and makes friends easily, both dog and human (especially if you scratch him).  He grew up with cats, so he'll sit in your lap if you encourage him.  He also grew up with Labs, so he swims and will even humor you and fetch things for a few rounds.  Unlike a Lab, however, he'll tire of the game and put the ball or stick away out of your reach.  Dalmatians were originally bred to be coaching dogs - running alongside their owners' horse-drawn carriages for miles, so they have great stamina and are extremely attached to their owners, especially as they grow older.  Spot loves to travel, but likes to sit in the back of the car, preferably with some treats from the fast food window.
